We all love a juicy steak, but it’s not just the meat that makes a good braai. Get creative with Werda’s range of easy-to-prepare products, for some standout salads
BEETROOT, ROCKET AND FETA SALAD WITH SESAME DRESSING
Serves 4
Prep time 10 min
Ingredients
- ¼ cup olive oil
- 3 tbsp sesame oil
- 2 tbsp white balsamic vinegar
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- Salt and pepper
- 100g rocket, washed and dried
- 405g Werda Sweet & Sour Beetroot
- 200g feta
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds, toasted
- Black pepper
Method
1 To prepare the dressing, mix together the first five ingredients, then set aside.
2 Arrange the rocket on a serving platter, top with the Werda Sweet & Sour Beetroot and crumble the feta over it.
3 To serve, drizzle with the dressing, sprinkle with the sesame seeds and season with black pepper.
MEDITERRANEAN PASTA SALAD
Serves 4
Prep time 10 min
Cooking time 25 min
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp olive oil, plus extra for roasting
- 3 tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 tsp basil pesto
- 4 pattypans, quartered
- 1 red onion, cut into petals
- 1 red pepper, cut into large pieces
- 1 yellow pepper, cut into large pieces
- 100g baby corn
- Salt and black pepper
- 420g Werda Cheese & Mushroom Pasta Salad
- Basil, to garnish
Method
1 Preheat the oven to 200°C.
2 To prepare the dressing, mix together the first three ingredients, then set aside.
3 Place the vegetables on a baking tray, drizzle with olive oil, season and roast for around 25 minutes, until slightly charred. Remove from the oven and allow to cool.
4 To serve, mix the roast vegetables and Werda Cheese & Mushroom Pasta Salad; drizzle with dressing; season with more black pepper; and garnish with basil.
SPICY COUSCOUS AND THREE BEAN SALAD
Serves 4
Prep time 10 min
Cooking time 10 min
Ingredients
- 100 ml olive oil
- ¼ cup white balsamic vinegar
- 1 tsp mustard
- 1 red chilli, finely sliced
- 2 tsp honey
- 200g couscous
- 420g Werda Three Bean Salad
- 3 spring onions, finely sliced
- Salt and pepper
Method
1 To make the dressing, mix together the first five ingredients, then set aside.
2 Place the couscous in a heatproof bowl and add enough boiling water to cover it. Cover the bowl and leave for 10 minutes to allow the couscous to absorb the water, then fluff with a fork.
3 To serve, mix together the Werda Three Bean Salad, couscous and spring onions; season; and drizzle with dressing.
